Puddle

Water has always fascinated me because it can hold so many colors, almost like a rainbow.

For this painting, I wanted to imagine a simple puddle as a small world of color and movement. I thought about the seven colors of the rainbow reflected in water, and about a childhood memory: after the rain, I loved putting on my boots and jumping into puddles, watching the water splash up around me.

I wanted to bring that playful feeling into the painting — not to paint a realistic puddle, but a fantasy of water, color, ripples, and joy.

The music I chose to accompany this work is Bach’s Invention No. 8. Its lively rhythm reminds me of jumping into water and the quick, sparkling movement of the splashes.

Puddle continues my current project of translating piano music into painting, while also exploring one of the themes that keeps returning in my work: water and its movement, reflections, and colors.
